Doctors are warning that teens are ignoring parental advice and being heavily influenced by media images of tanned celebrities and models.

Spirderman actress, Emma Stone, has revealed her best kept beauty secret, a £2 bottle of Grape Seed Oil, usually used for cooking.

A great trick for brighter, clearer and less dry winter skin is to ‘double cleanse’ your skin.

A double cleanse is achieved through first a steam cleanse and then a cleaning cleanse.

We all go a little heavy on the make up over the Xmas party season which can be harsh on the skin around your eyes and cause itching, redness and dryness, but for mature model

Dadina Howard, it was a serious threat to her job. .

Dadina, 46, has been modelling for 25 years. But a career demanding heavy make up and lots of beauty products has taken its toll on Dadina’s skin. Last year she developed eye eczema, which was not only irritating and uncomfortable, it also threatened her work as a mature catalogue model.

“The skin around my eyes became itchy and red. It was very uncomfortable and made me look years older. I tried all sorts of eye creams but nothing worked. Every morning I had to hold a cold flannel to my face to stop my eyes from itching and to bring down the swelling. It was a nightmare on shoots as the make up artists had to use more and more make up to cover up the redness around my eyes. I was worried I’d start loosing work.

“A friend with eczema recommended I try Skin Shop’s Dry Skin Eye Gel, I ordered some immediately as I as wiling to try anything at least once. The study, carried out at Wake Forest Universityin the U.S, suggests that the increase in symptoms towards 10pm in the evening could be due to biological changes in skin temperature.

Knowing this can help sufferers of itching skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis manage their skin better.

5 time-related steps to avoiding that evening itch are:

1. 5pm – Remove constrictive clothing as soon as possible when you get in from work
2. 6pm – Have shower or bath early, not just before bed as this will raise skin temperature even more
3. 7pm  – Eat a light meal early
4. 9pm  – Relax completely and avoid all physical exertion after 8pm to keep body temperature down
